How 3D ground scanner technology works

As you systematically walk your search area, the detector records magnetic field data. Even during the measurement, the device display delivers initial visual results right on site.

For the full analysis, the data is translated into a color-coded 3D representation in OKM's own software, Visualizer 3D Studio: every anomaly in the subsurface – whether a metallic object or a hollow space – appears as a visible anomaly on your laptop.

More than just a scanner

Most OKM metal detectors combine several operating modes in one device. Alongside the classic 3D Ground Scan, additional functions are available depending on the model:

• Magnetometer for a quick preliminary check of the terrain for near-surface iron objects
• Pinpointer for exact localization right before you dig
• Mineral Scan for detecting mineral-rich structures, for example during gold prospecting
• VLF metal detection for classic discrimination between metal types – including the functions you know from conventional metal detectors
